About the Event
Poetic, profound, and at times even maddening, Pinot Noir has garnered a reputation that truly proceeds itself. With its smooth texture, bright acidity, and layers of red fruit, earth, and spice, Pinot Noir loves to surprise even the most seasoned of wine enthusiasts. Over 20 years ago, the grape was cemented into our minds in the film “Sideways,” where protagonist Miles Raymond (Paul Giamatti) single-handedly increased the popularity of Pinot Noir and (temporarily) decreased the popularity of Merlot. Merlot is a fine grape, but Miles was correct in his adulation of Pinot Noir, the difficult-to-grow-but-well-worth-it red grape of Burgundy and beyond.
In Poetic Pinot Noir, we’ll explore this delightful grape alongside Tria's Wine Director Lauren Harris. We'll discuss where it comes from and why it's so revered. Best of all, we'll taste at least six different expressions of the grape to showcase its many qualities.
